It's something really weird because I can set 3840x2160 60Hz on the nvidia shield pro (connected directly to the TV, no Av or sound bar between zidoo and tv, or between shield and tv).

The EDID that I posted is the EDID that I get following your instructions:

    To Download EDID
    ================

    Settings/Display/Custom EDID/Save EDID

Save to a USB stick or network location.

One thing that I didn't mentioned is that the zidoo z9x pro that I bought is a refurbished unit, so maybe there is something wrong with the HDMI port on the zidoo.

The cables that I use are all HDMI 2.0 or 2.1 certified.

My S90C is converted to a S95C through the tv service menu.

Edit: I have connected the zidoo to another TV (TCL C805), same issues... So I am pretty sure is something wrong with the zidoo.

EDIDs are per HDMI port, so a TV can have different EDIDs for different HDMI ports.

All I can tell you is that any source device that was presented with that EDID would only be able to output 1080p by definition and if that is truly the EDID on one of the TV's HDMI ports then something's wrong in the TV firmware - it's kind of a placeholder EDID.

Thanks a lot for your help Mark. But I have connected the zidoo to any HDMI port of the Samsung s90C: same issues. And I have done the same with the TCL C805: same issues.

    Main issues:
    1. Custom EDID off -> 1080p60 is the maximum resolution available.
    2. Custom EDID on (with the EDID for Samsung S90C selected) -> 4k24 (or 4k30) is the maximum resolution available.
    3. Custom EDID on -> If I manually select 4k60 or 4050 -> black screen (same thing in the TCL C805).

I don't think is something wrong with the TV firmware because I use an Nvidia Shield TV Pro that is always at 4k60. I'm pretty sure is something wrong with my z9x pro refurbished unit.

Last thing that I can do is buy another unit (new one) and test if the issues still there.

I understand your logic, but that EDID came from somewhere and it wasn't the Zidoo and any source connected to that EDID will only be able to output 1080p.

I understand your logic too, but how do you explain that the Nvidia shield pro shows 4k60, 4k50, 4k 24, etc (no black screen) if I connect it to the same HDMI port of the S90c where the zidoo was connected?

Simply put, if the Shield or any other source is presented with that EDID then it cannot produce more than 1080p unless it is told to ignore EDID (there is an option in Android to "Show All Resolutions" which basically ignores resolution limitations in the EDID - I forget whether it's exposed in the Shield).

The Zidoo doesn't expose that option because it's not needed as it can load a custom EDID (it's the only source box I know of able to do this).

As I say, given the EDID presented to it, the Zidoo is behaving exactly as it should.

The fun is: I have an old zidoo x8, I just connected to the S90C, do you know what resolution shows? 3840x2160p at 60pHz in auto...

Same HDMI port, same cable, same TV, x8 works as expected, z9x pro don't do it.

I have no explanation for that, but an EDID is an EDID.

I have requested the return of the device. The unit I bought is a refurbished one, so I will buy another one 100% new. I will be back here to comment the results with the new unit.

Thanks for your time Mark. Very appreciated.

No problem - This is one I can't figure out so it'll be interesting when you get a replacement.

The big issue here is that when you download an EDID from the Zidoo, that EDID has to come from the sink further up the HDMI chain (it cannot originate in the Zidoo) and the EDID you downloaded only allows for 1080p, and that has nothing to do with the Zidoo.

Please post the results when you get a replacement, even if the results are exactly the same.

Please! To view 3D on the Sharp XV-Z30000. RTD1619BPD (zidoo 9x pro), create an EDIT for 3D. HDMI 1.4. YUV (444, 422, 420 8-bit, 10-bit). The standard doesn't support 10-bit, and 8-bit doesn't provide adequate 3D depth. Thanks in advance!

New unit received today. Everything is working as expected included 4k60 and auto. No need to enable custom EDID in my case. Excellent picture quality and I feel the UI more fluid than the refurbished unit. So I can confirm something was wrong with the HDMI port.

Go figure! I've seen dodgy HDMI ports before but never an EDID like that - another one to chalk up to experience and I'm glad it's sorted!

I am currently using the BT2020 4000 nit EDID from this thread on my OG Z9X and outputting everything in LLDV.

When my new Z9X 8K arrives next week, I'm hopping to use the same EDID to use LLDV for DV encoded movies only. I would like to output HDR and HDR+ movies in standard HDR and allow my JVC's internal tone mapping to do it's thing. Am I correct in assuming that the custom EDID will have no affect on that second use case as it affects only the DOLBY block?

Yeah - easy to setup that way - I’m sure you’ll figure it out but if not I can help when I’m back home ;)

Hi everyone. I've been using Z9X Pro for six months, but I can't get the HDR mode to work. The projector Touyinger q10 doesn't support HDR, and I can't seem to get the console to work. help me please
