DSP Compressor and Loudness

Do I unterstand that correct, that if you want to use the Compressor and Loudness of the A8, this only effects to the XLR and RCA Outputs, not f.e. to the USB Out?

I don't have an A8, but from what I remember of various forum posts, there are both DSP and EQ functions on the A8. The DSP is implemented in the DAC section, so it only operates via the analog outputs. The EQ is software based and can operate on both analog and digital outputs. I think the Compressor and Loudness functions are part of the DSP functions, not EQ, so they only take effect via the analog outputs.

Why cant they just put all together, so that you always have all tools for sound tuning?

 

Because they serve different purposes; so you can have your DSP profile correcting your room behaviour, while still being able to apply different EQ curves to please your ears on top of it...

 

Nope EQ is only for digital output to ongoing DAC. DSP is for inputs into the DAC and analogue output only. They both can’t be used on the same output.
