Does Z9X Pro play multi-channel audio files?

This is why I upgraded to the Z9x 8K. Even though the Zidoo reports sending 6 channels the receiver only detects 2. Multiple users reported the same.

 

I have narrowed the problem, if this may help for future upgrades and fixes - it is bit depth + sampling rate related.
I'm pretty sure that if it is possible to limit SACD playout to 16-44, it will also work for multichannel, even without finding the root cause.

I found a better workaround - my daughter is not using her Nvidia Shield as a game console anymore, so I bought her a cheaper box for Netflix and I am now using the Shield for multichannel audio.

Another workaround is to resample your multichannel collection to 16-44.

 

I also use the Shield for music 99% of the time.
I put Kodi on it and disabled everything that wasnt needed, put a simple skin on and it's never skipped a beat. only thing that doesn’t work on the shield as far as I can figure out is true DSD bitstreaming over HDMI, which my recevier supports and I have tested it with an SACD compatable bluray player.
Not a big loss for me as I convert all of my DSD to PCM on a PC first anyway so I rarely have to play an SACD ISO or DSF file.

 

I have replaced my Zappiti 4k Mini for a Zidoo Z20 pro.

Only minus is playing MCH flac files compared to the Zappiti.

I connect the Zidoo with hdmi to my Yamaha RX-V781.
Only issue that I have is playing MCH flac files with a 176,4 sampling rate.
Output = raw : effect is distorted music from the 5.1 speakers
Output = automatic : only stereo music is being played

If I convert the flac to 88,4 sampling rate it works fine in raw.

I don't want to convert my files, any other suggestion or is this the state of Zidoo in 2025 and wait it out?

Correct, i have converted some albums to 88,4 (and kept a copy of 176,4), I still like the Z9X Pro in general, but this is still annoying.

 

The only reason I bought my Z9x 8K box was for the multichannel audio. Sad they cannot figure it out for the Pro series. I basically have a $600 clock in my bedroom now since one of the main reasons I bought the Z2000 Pro originally was specifically for MCH audio.

They have abandoned this series IMO.
