I am considering inserting a Passive (Khozmo) or Active (Topping/Gustard...) Pre-amp between my DMP-A6 and my power amps. What bothers me is to do that means an extra set of cables, and anything I might gain by using analogue attention, would be wiped out by the extra connections in the output chain.
Ha Ha, laugh's on me, I put my RME ADI-2 FS (AKM version) back in, after ignoring it for a couple of years. I can connect via USB, since I use roon, I tried maximum upsampling (<384kHz). Not convinced, by that.
Still playing about with this, not reliably convinced there’s any advantage using the sophisticated ADI dac in place of the DMP’s own dac.
Previously I used DENON PMA-900HNE and then YAMAHA R-N800A. Now it's EVERSOLO. I immediately bought a set: A6 ME and two AMP-F2. Then I bought a Z8 DAC.
All this use of the A6 (or A8, for what matters) with an external DAC makes me think... WTF?!? Get a WIIM and do not waste all that money you are paying for a DAC that you won't be using... Anyway, whatever... I have the feeling people do not know what they are buying / using. Natural selection will, hopefully, clean all this up.
You are right nutul. Especially my "WTF Setup" is the essence of a long HIFI evolution in my case. It was buid "arround" the RME Dac. This exquisite piece of technic I owned for years paired with PC and Audirvana. As DMP-A6 came up, I was infected by this piece and it`s features and not least it`s price. So I decided to get it. And so I got this luxury problem to have two DACs to play arround. For my ears the RME is the better one and beside it has tons of options to play with. You are right, that a WIIM will do the pure streaming job a lot cheaper. Before A6 I had a combo of ZEN units. Also nice hardware. But I think, my actually "WTF Setup" now will last for a while. Not at least because there is also the WAF Factor (Woman Axceptance Factor) in the green area.
