Hi. My original DMP-A6 today wouldnt turn on. No light on ring. Unit purchased on Amazon over 2 years ago, so out of warranty. Measured the power supply ouput. +12V, - 12V are fine, 5V reads 0V. That means the on board fuse must be fine for it to provide ±12V, and something else inside the power supply is dead. Where can I contact zidoo to see if I can get a replacement PS? I dont want to spend $$ to get a linear power supply, just want to replace the original one with a like item. Thanks

update: learned that the power supply board doesnt provide 5V. So thats not the issue. How can I get this fixed. Spent $900USD to get this when it came out and 2.5 years later, it is dead and trying to find out how to get this fixed. Cant afford to spend $900 for just 2 years of use.

Looks like a stabilizer on the motherboard is failing. Curious to hear how this is being dealt with. A good seller will offer a deal for total replacement.

I agree. Either the regulator or a failing decoupling capacitor on the mainboard. Tantalums tend to fail short circuit. A thermal camera IME is usually a pretty quick way to identify which component is at fault and sinking all the current from the rail.

Zidoo replied and said contact the people who sold it (above). I purchased from Amazon from Eversolo official store, so it is zidoo. So that is a dead end. I have been emailing the zidoo support emails, and the reply is a little better, but not much. They said to see if it is the power supply and if so replace it with one of the upgrades on the secondary market. If it is not the power supply (my power supply is fine), then the issue is the main board and the only way to get it repaired is to mail it to China. So i asked where and how to do that and there was no reply. So it looks like there basically is no service if it is past warranty. So I have learned my lesson. I was contemplating buying the new T8 transport from eversolo, but spending $1380 for a device that may only last 1 year is not worth it, no matter how good it is.

I tested the power supply and the +12V and -12V were good. The fuse was good. To be sure, I powered the main board with an external power supply and it still didnt work. So that rules out the power supply. I noticed there was a chip labeled 1117 on the main board and it is a voltage downconverter to 5V. Output read 0V, input was .3V, so its not getting its input voltage. I was wondering how to identify the bad component and I dont have a thermal camera. I looked at the main board, and dont see any burnt components. But I can touch each component and see if it is hot, I suppose. Will update.

That's one reason why I stopped buying from manufacturers directly, esp. from smaller ones which don't provide service in your country.
You're supposed to buy a new one, not having the old one repaired, unfortunately.

This is where some manufacturers have got it all wrong. The DMP-A6 isn't a product like a disposable lighter or a ball point pen. When support and service either dries up or was pretty well non-existent consumers don't tend to buy that brand again. In some jurisdictions consumers have reasonable rights and protections but in others not so. I find it amazing that in a country like the USA a consumer can't get a product that was purchased from or through Amazon serviced or repaired. One of the reasons I as an Australian consumer will never buy another Emotiva product, because when they require servicing or repair there's no recognised Emotiva service centres here where I can get their product repaired.

    Fully understand.
But, as always there's pros and cons. I think it's pretty great that over the last 20 years maybe, also smaller companies were able to deliver decent products to a global sales market. And in some cases with very attractive prices too.
But this comes with natural drawbacks as well. Such small companies can usually not build up a global service network like the big players can. And in how far such companies are able to provide repair service just on their own depends.
And this leads to situations described here, unfortunately.

Well I'd be happy for eversolo to offer me a contract and access to their service manuals to repair their equipment here in Australia.

I have a happy result to report. Eversolo now has a US based support Forte Distribution. Found it on an Audiogon discussion, not mentioned on this forum nor from Eversolo support, which is strange, Eversolo support suggested sending it back to China for repair. Forte gave me a choice of sending the entire unit to them or selling me a new motherboard and CPU since it was out of warranty. Replaced them and it started up again. I suspect that a corrupt firmware update killed the CPU. In any case, I am a happy camper. Took over a month to get fixed, but at least it isnt a boat anchor. I will now consider a T8 which is more expensive now that Eversolo actually has support in the US. And purchasing from Forte since good support means a satisifed customer and a repeat customer.

Oh, updated firmware to 1.5.30 the latest. No issue with coax output as some mentioned here.
