+1 Since the dmp-series is marketed for streaming services: Tidal has Atmos dd+ as output format. It would really be usefull if the dmp-a6 could decode it to 5.1 (Dolby claims object audio to run on any speaker layout. So 5.1 would be suficient enough! ) Or just output it as raw data and let the external processor do the job.
Dolby Atmos passthrough would finally make me buy the A6. And let´s not forget Auro CX.... The reason - for me - to buy a streamer is being able to stream all audio formats and not having to switch to another streamer, because a format is not supported.
I posted the below requests in this thread over a year ago. Thought I'd give the requests a bump with the hope that they get added in the near future. 1. Have the ability to play files from the SSD or attached USB hard drive in a "play last" or "next" mode. With the WiiM Ultra I can play as many files or albums in a row when selected. It's a great feature that can be used with files and Qobuz. I'm not interested in creating playlists just play random albums in sequence. With the WiiM streamers you select an album choose "play last" and it starts playing after the current album ends. You can even see what songs are playing, have played and are due to play in the "Queue" list. 2. Have the ability to sync two or more DMP-A6s together that are in different systems in one's home. WiiM has the feature as I can sync a Pro (main system) and an Ultra (bedroom system). It's great feature that gives one the ability to play music in different areas of their home.
Actually the point is, the HDMI output on A6 is for transmitting multi-channel PCM and DSD, and we don't support Dolby.
But since Atmos tracks are getting more and more and also Auro CX is a pretty high quality format, you cannot ignore that forever.
Thank you for the reply. I was trying to see if it is a physical issue or not. You support it on the UHD8000, but only in the video player, not the music player. It would seem to be a simple thing to implement if it were not a physical issue.
The zidoo does do dolby atmos even on the music player. Rip to mkv and then to m4a I believe the complete 8k series, the z3000 and uhd 8000 even on de 'audio only' port
I have always been getting Dolby Atmos files from record labels as .thd files. Isn't that the "native" format for Atmos Tru-HD?
Don't run to the 8k series just yet. The music player has serious issues. I ran from the Zidoo to the Eversolo and the Eversolo is seriously better in playing surround!
Thanks for the info. What is the UHD8000 missing then? Do you mean that the dmp-a6 is better at playing 5.1 discrete music?
I don't own a uhd8000 but a Z3000 all comments are on multichannel music only! (i don't do stereo) but It wil not gapless play multichannel files. (only sacd 5.1 is played gapless). That was the ultimate deal breaker! i cannot listen to concept albums with a 2 second gap inbetween tracks. It breaks my ears and heart! A music player with that kind of disrespect for an album is not fit to be called musicplayer! It will only play play music files correctly if they have 'movie' layouts. So 4.0 files are downmixed to stereo! other classic music formats too. DTS-ex is also not understood. --> stereo I don't know the current state of the database. But is was nowere near as functional as the dmp-a6. Since most of the updates were posterwall oriented (or video issues). I don't excpect much improvemen. But this is very off-topic. Please go to the video player part of the zidoo forum. Yes there is no multichannel part of the forum. So here we are. Always off-topic!
