DMP-A6 Feature Request

If I had my wish list…..
My issue is lack of full control. The app is great, but I can not use it to control Volume on my amp. Hence a need for a second remote in my hand, Logitech Harmony. Which is discontinued and I doubt it will ever support Eversolo. I also tied SofaBaton remote, no luck. Original remote helps and would be great if all signals were transmitted via IR, but only power does, so I can not teach any remote other commands. If there was a way to teach just some basic ones…. Or have the unit learn from any other remote, the way Bluesound does.


So to conclude, if I just want to listen to a playlist and have ability to skip a track or adjust volume, I need two remotes. Not convenient.

 

My second request, one that would probably solve above issue (not perfect but still) would be app support for Apple TV or Smart Tv android platform. What a dream that would be, to be able to control tracks and playlists, see album art maybe even UV meters. using a big screen. I don’t even need HDMI out at this point. I know I can screen share the phone, but it just lacks control and UV meters have such a delay, it is annoying.

 

Another great option would be remote control via IP protocol. Then all good universal remotes can find it and control properly.

 

Right, and that's where the letter selection thing would help. Because swiping your phone 65 times just to get down to the letter T isn't just tedious, its ridiculous.

 

Eversolo is already in the Harmony list of devices. Maybe take a look there and see whether it has the buttons that has rhe functions you are looking.

I am using it though only for Power On/Off, Screen Off and Cycle input source.

 

Got my DMP-A6 a few days ago. Overall really happy with it, but beeing used to LMS and a squeezebox touch for the last twelve years I have some requests.

TIDAL app
Sorting of "my collection" - add the same sorting as for music (A-Z, Z-A, add time ascending, add time descending)
Add some sort of "home button" to get to the start/home screen. Now I have to tap the back arrow several times if I'm "too deep" in the app. (for example: streaming-tidal-explore-jazz-top artists-Pat Metheny-Discography-Bright Size Life. To get back to the home/start I have to press the back button 7 times)
Add info about the album (MQA, samplingrate etc. For example the album Dream Box from Pat Metheny. Two albums are displayed, one of them is MQA 96kHz but it is not possible to see until you play them and see the info on the music player)
Possibility to "play next" and "add to end" for the current playlist. Not beeing able to build the current playlist is one of the biggest limitations. It should be possible to add songs/albums etc from different sources in the same playlist. Tidal. Qobuz, Spotify etc...

General
More themes for the "now playing" screen. Some with bigger textsize, and maybe one with only the album artwork.
More options for the screen saver, and possibility to have a clock displayed in standby and off. More flexibility like for example a clock as your "now playing" screen.

Well, mine sends IR signals for all the buttons, so I was able to do the old "head to head" learning with my old Sony RM-AV3000s.

Not sure if it matters, but I did NOT Bluetooth pair my remote to the A6.

That's where the "letters" idea is basically a must.

Perhaps another possible option, on the physical Eversolo remote ($12 on Amazon), when you have the volume knob turned off in settings, the remote control volume buttons could do fast up and down scrolling?

And, perhaps this adds to the "letter" selection idea on the screen? Also have 2 more buttons on the screen, that allow for fast scrolling. Or 4 buttons, 2 for slower scrolling and 2 for fast scrolling.

 

At night the white screens are very bright especially on Apple Music even with the brightness feature turned way down. I would love to have an automatic dark mode that turns on at Sunset or I time I pick and turns off to day mode at Sunrise or a specified time. Dark mode makes listening at night much more pleasurable but others should be able to turn it off if they would like.

I am new to this site and have not figured out how to start a thread. I just received and connected my DMP-A6. I am comparing it to my Node N130 with the upgraded PD Creative PSU and an external linear power unit. My DAC is a Schiit Bifrost 2/64.

Initial thoughts:
I was actually surprised how much I liked the DAC in the DMP-A6. Very detailed. However, I found it a bit exhausting after about 30 minutes. I prefer the Bifrost R2R approach. Maybe a bit less detail, but more comfortable with a wider sound stage. I anticipate using the DMP-A6 DAC occasionally when I am seeking specific details in the music, but for 99% of the time I expect to use the Bifrost.

The modded N130 is a huge upgrade over the standard. The DMP-A6 is another step or two up (streamer only) which is what I am looking for. The DMP-A6 DAC is light years beyond the N130 DAC (standard, or upgraded).

I listen primarily to Amazon HD Music (will add my own digital library later).

My big miss right now is I am unable to see the album art for Amazon on the DMP-A6, nor my new Samsung pad. The artwork does show up with the Node. I am certain there is a simple fix, but I have not been able to find it. Would appreciate some guidance.

 

How can i delete an complete album on the player? I found only the possibility to delete a song.

 

In addition to VU meters as an option to display on the screen, some good old-fashion graphic equalizer displays.

Not shure if this is a bug or a feature request, but here goes:
The skip-button when going backwards does skip to the beginning of the previous track on the playlist. Not to the beginning of the current track.
Together with the far from smooth slider function for moving within the current track, to go back to the start of the track currently playing has proven to be annoyingly difficult.
Looks like 99,9something percent of the skip-buttons in the world has made it close to a standard to go to the beginning of the current track. Please change it on the DMP-A6 too

I wish the play cue management to be updated, both on the display screen and from the control app. Some of the requests below are already available, but not on all sources and from the control app.

The same functions regardless of source (streaming, music library):
- Play next
- Add to end of play que

This is essential IMHO. As it is now, it is not possible to build a play que as you are listening.

Nice to have:
- Sort favorites in (for example) Qobuz. Alphabetical (the way it is now) and Date added.

I whish that ALL setup/settings were bundled in one section. Now it's all over, in settings, in media library, clear cache somewhere else, update firmware is under apps etc. Please bundle it all in one place.

 

Yeah the media library setup is well hidden. At least it should be accessible using the APP (not needing Cast Mode).

 

Totally agree. Moreover, the skip back button ( |<< ) should:
1. if the track is started, return to the beginning and STOP
2. if the track is at its beginning, go to the beginning of the previous track

If (1) is not implemented like this, it would be tricky to get to the previous track anyway; if you just wanted to rewind the current track, though, it would be enough to press PLAY just after the SKIP BACK.
