Digital volume control (EVC)

    Hello,

I am planing to use an Eversolo streamer (DMP-A6 or DMP-A6 Master or DMP-A8) for my stereo setup.

My plan is to use koax-output of the Eversolo and go digitally into my Hypex-Fusion Amps (fa503) of my three way active speakers to avoid double and tripple DA/AD-conversation.
So I am not using the DAC, the analog output stage and the analog inputs.
As input I want to use the internal player (streaming services and internet radio) and digital inputs (spdif/koax or HDMI-ARC-input coming from my TV).

As I am using the unit only digitally (means digital inputs/internal player and digital outputs) I must use the digital volume control (which seems to be called "Eversole Volume Control").

Question to the eversolo users. Is the digital volume control working fine? Does it effect the sound quality?
Does the digital volume control in my case work as expected? Does it also work for digital inputs (spdif/koax or HDMI-ARC-input)?
I have read different things, like it will only work for internal player.

When using the streamer only with internal player and digtial inputs/ouputs and not using the DAC, analog output stage, analog inputs and the analog volume control(DMP-A8), is there any difference in sound quality between the DMP-A6, DMP-A6 Master Edition and the DMP-A8?

There is no difference in sound quality between the three units whichever input/output you use, they are all excellent and audibly transparent.
I have used digital in to my active speakers and they sounded great, as their measurements would suggest.

You won't be able to have both digital inputs and outputs at the same time on the A6. Digital inputs only emerge via analog on this streamer.

    Hello,

this is my planned setup (see sketch below).

That means digital inputs (koax/optical) will only be routed to the analog ouptut (XLR/Chinch) and not to the digital outputs (koax)?
That means no sound with digital inputs in that config? Or do you mean that it can not be volume controlled and will just direclty routed to digital output?
That means I can only use the digital outputs with internal player?
Is the behaviour the same for all models DMP-A6, DMP-A6 Master and DMP-8?

damn...The DMPs are exactly what I am looking for but I need digital inputs.
When going over to the DMP-A8 with analog inputs. Can I use the analog inputs, digital volume controlled and output digitally to my hypex amps.
Will it work this way? I mean a double AD/DA-Conversation for my tv-stuff would not matter that much. Just want to avoid it for my music stuff (internal player).

This behaviour is the same for all A6 variants, but the A8 has an I2S output which I believe is always active regardless of source choice. It is at fixed volume though not variable.

Digital-in to digital-out is only possible with the DMP-A10.

The DMP-A10 is a bit expensive, so another option is the Auralic Aries S1.

Auralic only has app for iphone. So it´s out.

Are the analog inputs on the A8 working with digital volume control and then output digitally via koax?

Why do you want to go digital with your Hypex? Connect the Hypex with XLR and you're done. There's no audible difference in the sound output. However, the digital volume control on the A6 is misleadingly described. It changes the signal! Only in pass-through mode or at "0 dB" does the signal remain 1:1.
This is important and you should know it!

For this reason, I only use the A6 in pass-through mode and an RME Adi-2 FS as DAC and preamp. It has a true digital volume control that doesn't alter the signal.

Attenuation isn’t altering the signal, ask Eversolo exactly how they implement their digital attenuation.

Most of the times it doesn't turn down noise though resulting an a higher S/N ratio at lower volume....the question is how much one can hear it.
