I'm trying to figure out how to make my EP automatically open to the music app I choose. Ideally, I want it to start with Spotify (soon switching to Tidal), which I already have selected under Apps. But for some reason, every time the unit powers up, it defaults to Internet Radio and immediately starts playing Sinatra-era music (not that I don't like a little Frankie now and then). What have I done to make it automatically choose Internet Radio on startup, and how can I set a different default—whether Spotify (in Apps) or even something like the FLAC-heavy Radio Paradise (in Music Services)? BTW, my audio gear is powered by a smart plug, so when I say “Alexa, streamer,” everything turns on. I just want the EP to begin with the music source I prefer instead of 1950s radio. I also enabled Settings → Playback Settings → Automatically open the playback screen, though I’m not sure if the note below it (“Only effective when using the built-in player and when tracks are in the playback queue”) is the clue to solving this. The owner’s manual is pretty sparse, and I haven’t been able to find any detailed instructions on this feature or several others. Most of my experience so far has been trial-and-error. Any guidance would be appreciated.
I asked ChatGPT. They said that there's no way to change it -- it automatically defaults to "Internet Radio." Oh well. Thanks everybody for at least reading my question folks (since there appears nothing can be done).
I wouldn't really on AI for the answer to this. I have the device and it doesn't start playing anything. It opens on the main menu screen. I'll change settings to match yours and see what happens and let you know.
I checked my settings and that was already turned on, and must be by default because I didn't change it. Normally, I'm playing ripped flac copies of CDs, and if I just pause it and shut down, it goes back to that flac album that was playing before the shutdown when I restart it If I didn't reconnect the ssd that has the flac files (I disconnect it and take it with me between two residences), and turn it on, I believe it opens on main menu. Check to see if you have a playlist for that station that is loaded when you shut down Also, put in a cd, play it, pause it, then restart, and see if the CD isn't loaded in the playback screen when you restart it, on the track you were playing when you paused it and shut down. Double check that the Internet radio channel first have tracks from a playlist that are loaded and that get put back on the playback screen. I have this setting on and don't have the same activity.
Hi MikeVB, Google chose poorly, and I didn't catch it before I posted. The last paragraph should have said: Double-check that the Internet radio channel doesn't have... Yeah, experiment a little with different sources playing when you shut down and see if you get a different result. Try to do a shutdown, then manually restart it, as well as choosing restart from the menu to see if that makes a difference. Also, what firmware version are you on?
