Closed Change device name

Has anyone tried to change the device name using the build-prop and settings storage.

I would like to gain access to certain apps that give the message that the device is incompatible.

 

I don't think the name is the problem with incompatibility, Apps check for more than a name

please don't change the device name, it will pop error msg.

 

Yes I found that was the case and had to change back.
But I only changed the build-prop not the settings storage.
Changed name in build-prop a with a tronsmart RG68 on 4.4 and that worked,allowing me to run the app.
