I've just tried Airplaying something to my A-6 Gen 2 for the first time. I only plan to use Airplay to stream Podcasts from my Mac to the Eversolo. The device shows up as an Airplay device on the Mac but when I set the podcast app to airplay to it, the sound still only comes out of my desktop speakers. Has anyone had this issue and fixed it?
Can you airplay to a different device from the mac? Airplay works fine for me, DMP-A6/g2 and M3 MBPro Sequoia 15.3.2 The A6 is idle (on the home icon screen) and you get the blue pairing indication on the MBP sound menubar (speaker icon) menu? How do you "set the app to airplay" ? The app should just play normally as is, shouldn't it? Which macos app? Less likely ... It may be fussy about which subnets the MBP/A6 are on. They have to be the same for "wake on lan" to work, could be there are airplay issues as well. (If you're using the same wifi to the MPB & A6 it should not be an issue other than bandwidth.)
I'm trying to airplay from the Podcasts app on the Mac. Running the current MacOS version. The strange thing is I can airplay from my phone to the A6 with no issue. The A6 doesn't appear in the Home app but is showing as available in the audio output of the Mac and the Podcast app but even when selected, the sound comes out of the Mac's headphone socket (which my desktop speakers are connected) rather than the A6.
Hmm. How odd. I don't use the app, and it appears something is strange with the output selection. Changing it in the podcast app doesn't change the audio output, as you say. But using the menubar speaker icon, select the A6 for airplay... turns blue and airplay plays. Can you try that? Also worth taking a look at settings -> sound The podcast is playing through my A6. But here is the menu for the podcast app... changing the "selection" checkbox has no effect.
Thing is, if I do it in the main sound settings, then ALL sound from the Mac will go through the Eversolo rather than just the podcast. also, checking the display on the Eversolo, it was showing it was receiving the AirPlay signal and actually playing it but no sound come out of the A6. The sound it still coming out of the Mac's connected speakers. Weird.
Okay, sounds like you already knew what I told you. Looks like a very old Apple bug, dating back to 2019/2020. Maybe it's been "fixed" numerous times https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251184408?sortBy=rank
.... Having thought about it a bit more, 1. Does the same issue exist for, say, the Apple Music app? If not, Apple bug in the podcast app. 2. If you do see the same issue with AppleMusic, it could be an Airplay implementation issue with the A6. I have read they support "airplay", not "airplay2" which may be required to do what you wish.
It's definitely a Mac Podcasts app bug. No issue Airplaying to the Eversolo from the iPhone Podcasts app or indeed the AM Mac app. Just odd that it's not consistent. As I mentioned, not a problem on the WiiM Pro Plus that the Eversolo replaced but it's fine. I just won't use the Mac version of the Podcasts app.
