From your picture you just need to select the other folder above on Zidoo device the one with bunch of numbers. USB drives are attached in there.

More details are needed. How is the USB drive formatted, what error message do you get? etc.

Just saying I can't copy a file does not allow anyone to help.

And if you post a picture, for goodness sake get it in focus!

And do you have "Allow data to be written" set to On and "Enable password" set to Off in the Samba server?

Really don't know what's going on here - I certainly can't replicate it - if I connect a USB drive (and have Samba server set as you say) then files can be copied both ways - it's always been like that.

I can only think it's some odd Windows thing but no idea what.

thanks mate. normally i can do it also. maybe some issue in windows? format windows laptop? but its strange that its possible that i can copy from external drive from zidoo to laptop. and the other situation not, from laptop to external hdd connected to zidoo over network! maybe a firmware issue? witch firmware do you have on the zidoo z9x pro? i have this version 1.0.86 beta https://www.mcbluna.net/wp/zidoo-model-overview/zidoo-z9x-pro-firmware-download/

Setting Samba server and allowing data to be written but without any login and password... is not a good practice.

Looks like you have mapped Zidoo Samba share as D: drive at your PC... And you have done it using different credentials that are now set inside Zidoo.
You have to unmapp the share in Windows. And mapp it again this time with there current credentials as set at Zidoo Samaba settings - and enable the password first.

P.S. Please note - widnows sometimes still remeber the credentials aslo to unmapped shares... So sometimes it's needed to edit relevant enties in the registry or to use cmd.

Thanks mate. i dont have zidoo mapp as d: look at screenshot. samba server is my zidoo, and the external usb hdd device connected to zidoo is called: 42CAF586CAF5768F. nieuw volume d is my hdd from my laptop. if i copy a file from d harddrive laptop i get the message: you need permission to perform this action! have also reset my laptop. same issue. strange is, that i can copy files from external connected hdd from zidoo over network to laptop shared hdd D: drive! Maybe a bug in the firmware? i use firmware 1.0.86 beta. And you? you have also the zidoo z9x pro?

I have everything as you but no problems with copying files from PC into Zidoo HDD drive (actually I had never such a problem as your).

Three differences in my setup are:
HDD was formatted to NTFS at PC, not at Zidoo.
My HDD is not connected to USB but to SATA port.
I use login and password to access HDD from PC. So Samba is set to use password, which I had set to be moderately difficult.

You have to check the NTFS permissions over the movies folder, by right clicking Properties/Security...
Can't help you more right now since I am on Win10 and currently even not in the place where my Zidoo Z9x Pro is.
However in the Security tab you will see which users are set to have full access or write access... Not sure which user is used to authenticate your PC into Zidoo share if you set no password... :-(

    Check this up.
    What are your Security settings?
And which user is used by you to authenticate in this share? In my case I am 100% sure I am using proper root user... not just Everyone = not authenticated user

simplest thing for now is just plug the HDD in to the pc move the files ,then plug it back in Z9X to watch
as you say ,too much of a pain to format with 5 tb on it already

how i mostly do it even thou i have no issues transfering to my usb powered hdds on my z9x pro ,just quicker for me usually
