    Hi all,
I started testing this new FW on my Z9X and first of all I would like to thank for the new real time bitrate feature!! Very very nice and I wouldn’t change it.

I still have a few bugs I already mentioned about with the previous FW 6.3.12. I have automatic frame rate enabled and when I playback a 23,976 fps or 24 fps content (mkv container) it sometimes starts at 60 fps. I need to stop and restart and then it correctly syncs the frame rate. I just tested this now with “Mortal Kombat” in 4K HDR from Samba network playback.

The second issue is with contents originally at 23,976fps that I needed to remux at 24fps (with mkv you can do it) to be able to sync italian soundtracks. During playback the frame rate is always recognized as 23,976 fps instead of 24 fps and this means that every few minutes I will have a sync stutter. I also tried to enable “Fix Bistream Timing Info” during the remux with MKVToolnix (as kindly suggested by a forum user) but nothing changed. It seems as if the Zidoo is reading the “Original Frame Rate” metadata instead of the “Frame Rate” one. Also in this case I tested with 4K HDR content via Samba networking playback.

Any chance you could fix these issues, because I also have an X8 and X9S (both running FW 2.0.34) and I never faced any of these problems!

I’ll continue testing in the next days and let you know if I find out any other issue.

Can you capture your EDID and post here.

    Settings/Display/Custom EDID/Save EDID

You'll need to rename from .bin to .txt to upload to the forum.

My worry is that if we don't follow Original frame rate, there will be makes more problems.
Anyway, If you like, you can provide the file to us, I can give you an FTP account.

I can understand your worry, but it used to playback fine with X8 and X9S. No problem with providing a file to you. I'll wait for the FTP account.
    Thank you!

So given it's an LG there's absolutely nothing wrong with that EDID as expected, but just wanted to be sure.

I can only think there's something funky with the file - I test these boxes until they're on their knees and I've never seen this behaviour with MKV files.

There used to be a frame rate issue with ISOs, but again, as I said earlier ISOs I tested here were fine and I'm pretty sure that specific issue was fixed - certainly the ISOs that used to be a problem here now play correctly.

It can happen with any file (mkv but also ISO, never tested with mp4), it's not with just one title. And the weird thing is it's random. I'm starting to think it may be a handshake timing problem via Samba...maybe sometimes it takes for some reason just a little bit longer and it doesn't sync correctly?
And as I already underlined, it never occured with X8 or X9s I always used in the exact same way...

I can't think of any reason that the network connection would make any difference - basically the EDID has already told the box it can do 4K23, so if it's presented with a 4K23 file it plays at that rate.

One way to test that is to stick a movie on a USB stick and run from there to see if you can replicate the problem.

    Hi,

With this firmware, a lot of mkv movies don't play in my unit.
Also, ISO plays stuttering and there ara some 3D ISOS that it can't play.

And a request. Is it possible to add reproduction for 3d photos?
    Thank you!

I set my Z9X to automatically check for updates, so today when I boot up I get notification screen for new firmware.

But because I’m set to watch a movie with my wife, I decided to postpone (also I would like to read the changelog first). Then about an hour into the movie, that new firmware update window pops up again taking almost the entire screen! That’s not nice lol. Anyway, no big deal but I thought it shouldn’t bother people during a movie.

Because I don’t have serious issues to expect a fix, I’m excited about the real-time bitrate the most, and I don’t mind the extra decimals.

PS: Why would anyone rip the DV discs to MP4 anymore? MKV works just fine so I don’t understand why this DV MP4 playback issue is so important.

I suppose it's because of streaming service web-dl rips, which are often provided as 1:1 mp4
