Apologies for the slight cross-post, but the Plex for Zidoo forum seems very quiet. I have been using the native Plex app since the Z9X 8K was lauched. I was hoping that it was going to be developed from a rather barebones player to something closer to the fully-featured Plex app I use on my Roku streamers, but there seems to have been no more development. Also, when I play files from my server on the Roku Plex app, the media information shows up in the 'activity' panel on my Plex server, but when I use the native Zidoo Plex app nothing appears here for some reason. This means that I am unable to extract the media information from the server to see what is playing on the Zidoo. In order to solve both of these issues, what Plex app should I use? I would rather stick to the non-G firmware if possible (although if the best solution is to use the G firmware then I will change), would like to make the most of the Z9X 8K hardware, and would like to be able to automatically start the Zidoo in the Plex app when it wakes up or boots. There seems to be different approaches for the different generations of Zidoo player, so what is best for the 8K? Many thanks!
PlextoZidoo is what I use on all 3 of my Zidoo boxes and at this point, I can't imagine having to do without. Very few complaints for my use case and any would be small. The built in Plex app is just way too bare bones, and has been basically ignored so far wrt any improvements, but I would be open to using it if it got some much needed attention.
I use it on both my 2 Z9X 8K's as well as my OG Z9X. It's definitely snappier on the 8K boxes, like all apps, but it runs fine on the Z9X too. It's really the only option on the OG boxes for me as there's not a hope in hell that HT app can handle my library size.
plex to zidoo, and zidoo plex mod here as well... the stock plex app is way to limiting... i have the new plex official app loaded on the 8k g firmware, but it wont use the zidoo player, just the plex player... so I don't use that.. on my z9x, i had a old 9? version of plex, that i was able to enable the zidoo player with the plextozidoo, and that worked, but some features were dropping off since the version was so old... the zdmc, or kodi, sometimes after a plex video, it dumps me bach to the zidoo homescreen for some reason, but not the end of the world..
ZidooPlexMod. I wanted the internal Zidoo player handling the Video playback itself, while being able to navigate my Plex Libraries as they are.
