I was wondering if I could use a balanced and RCA cable at the same time. My plan was Balanced to my amp and RCA to a subwoofer. I apologize if I missed discussion of this in another post. Thanks.
Hi all, when connecting the amplifier via balanced (xlr) and subwoofer via (rca) do you loose any audio quality or any cons doing it this way? Want to order a DMP-A6 ME Gen2 but this will be a deal breaker for me if the audio quality would be affected. Thanks for your support on this.
You don't. The only thing you have to do is to chose XLR+RCA output, that is, they have to be both active at the same time. Also, since there is no separate hi/lo pass filter that can be applies selectively to either of the outputs, you better have a subwoofer that offers its own lo-pass filter. The best solution would be the following: You basically need an active subwoofer (almost all of them are, but... yer knows) with HI and LO pass filters, together with speaker outputs responding to those filter settings. Then, you just plug it to yout XLR outputs of the Eversolo. Your speakrs, then, will be connected to the subwoofer outputs. With the HI/LO filter settings on the sub itself you will be able to define an audio window for the sub (say, up to 120Hz) and one for your speakers (say, from 120, or 110, up to 22kHz) This is what I do on my setup, and it does work pretty well.
Many thanks Nutul for the quick response. Much Appreciated. I have an SVS-2000 Sub with low pass filter so will apply your first suggestion: 1) Enable XLR+RCA outputs on DMP-A6 2) Connect XLR to Amplifier. 3) Connect RCA to Sub and set lo-pass filter appropriately. So, all seems to be good and thanks again. P.S. Will explore your second suggestion once I upgraded my Sub. Thanks Again. I am relieved now and can order my DMP-A6.
Which is better? 1)Eversolo dmp-a8 (XLR/RCA) via xlr to amplifier(Cambridge audio CXA81 Mk II) with the speakers on the amplifier and the sub( SVS-1000 pro lo-pass filter appropriately) on the eversolo rcas? 2)Eversolo dmp-a8 (BAL/XLR)via xlr to amplifier(Cambridge audio CXA81 Mk II) with the speakers on the amplifier and the sub( SVS-1000 pro lo-pass filter appropriately)on the pre-out rcas of the amplifier? In the second solution the good is that both speakers and sub volume are controlled the same way,but if the sound is better i will try the first one...
If you have the 2nd possibility, then get it. It is more useful, and you can control the volume of the sub too in one go. The first option will leave you without control of the sub volume, unless you control the volume from the A8 (and thus your amp volume should be kept close-to-max) Go for option 2, it is better. But the volume on the Eversolo SHOULD BE BYPASSED, or kept at 100% / 0dB / MAX, whatever you may call it...
