It should be gapless, if you have the EOS engine turned on. In the Apple Music app (under settings / audio, crossfade needs to be off. I’m not sure if the integrated version is gapless, though.
It doesn’t work in the app in the streaming section, but you’ll get gapless in the version under Apps
I see the advice given above and have made sure my settings are the same. I am unable to get gapless playback to work. I am playing Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon album. I am getting noticeable breaks of silence between tracks. It is not good! I am a long time Apple Music subscriber and not looking to change streaming services. Unfortunately this is making me re-think my purchase of the DMP-A6 Master Edition. If anyone can tell me how they are getting gapless playback to work with the Eversolo DMP-A6 and Apple Music I will appreciate your help.
I’ve just checked again and it definitely works. You need to go to Cast > Apps > Apple Music. It won’t work with the app in the streaming section - and you’ll lose the album art graphics, but you’ll also gain hi-res audio
It’s still not working for me. I wonder if there is another setting I need to change. There is still a small gap of silence between the audio tracks I am testing it with.
In settings on the A6, EOS engine has to be turned on. And in the Apple Music settings (3 dots top right) you have to turn off the function called something like ‘Fade in’ (normally this function will overlap two tracks but it does not work if you want gabless). It is also inside the Apple Music settings that you setup audio quality (wifi streaming should be set to hi-res). This is available if you turn on hi-res at the top of that menu.
What I discovered is that gapless playback does work in the Apple Android APP. It's in the Eversolo UI player that gapless playback doesn't work (yet) for Apple Music... In comparison, for instance Qobuz gapless playback works fine in both the Android app and the Eversolo UI.
I am able to get gapless playback to work as you mention in the Apple Android APP. Gapless does NOT work for me when I enable Lossless Audio in Settings/Audio Quality. I have tested this many times. If Losless Audio is enabled there is an audible Gap between tracks. I am playing Pink Floyd Dark Side of the Moon - Track 1 - Speak to Me transitioning to Track 2 - Breathe. I am also using an external DAC with my DMP-A6 ME. Maybe that is a complicating factor. I wouldn't think so, however. To get around this frustration I have subscribed to Qobuz and am using it when I'm listening to music through my Eversolo DMP-A6 ME. The benefits are the gapless playback works flawlessly and it also plays tracks at higher audio quality than Apple Music (through the Eversolo streamer.) It is a shame that Apple Music doesn't have the same functionality through the Eversolo.
This most likely is due to Apple being not so forthcoming in allowing third parties to integrate Apple Music natively in their devices. Officially according to Apple standard policies we are not even supposed to get anything better than lossless on non-Apple devices ...
Yes. Very unfortunate for long time Apple users like myself. Qobuz is a great service. I just don't love the idea of paying for two separate streaming services. LOL
Has Eversolo responded to this issue? I bought this A6 due to its Apple Music support. The non gapless playback is a deal breaker for me. If anyone has found a solution? If I can’t figure this out I’ll be sending it back. Really disappointing.
There are two Apple Music Apps. As previously posted. You need to go to Cast > Apps > Apple Music. It won’t work with the app in the streaming section - and you’ll lose the album art graphics, but you’ll also gain hi-res audio
It’s a short gap, play Floaters - Glyph. Songs 1-3 should blend with ZERO gap. I also confirmed it’s gapless when not set to lossless. There’s a small gap even with standard lossless as well as hi res.
I found a work around! I downloaded the album I’ve been using to test gapless and it works! Gapless!!!! Not terribly inconvenient so this might work for me. One thing that would have been nice is if Apple Music downloads then showed up in your music files on the A6, but they do not. Only usable through the download AM app. We shall see. I was planning on installing an SSD drive anyways but a bit of a pain, I don’t see a way to bulk download all my albums so I guess one at a time….
Just as more information for anyone else having this issue. downloading the album also worked for a couple Pink Floyd albums I tried. As another twist to all this, I have now noticed some albums seem to be gapless without having g to download them. IDK, weird stuff. Makes me tempted to stick to records and not worry about streaming…
My CarPlay is like this. Some times I have to download for gapless playback and sometimes it just works. I'm considering buying and Everolo and I suppose that the Dolby Atmos tracks on Apple Music don't work?
