I don’t know if anyone has this issue with their eversolo dmp6A master edition gen 2. I use the side loaded apple music classical and even after changing the audio quality to high res loseless it still plays only in lossless on high res lossless albums. However if I play the same album on the side loaded apple music app it would play in high res. Is this problem peculiar to me?

  2. Interesting. I've fallen out of the habit using AppleClassical, using AppleMusic directly instead. I thought AC is essentially an index into AM. The notation is better with sections / movements.

The current AC feature is Anne-Sophie Mutter's "East Meets West". Plays as 24bit/192Khz on AM. On AC, the generic output page ("disc") shows 48 Khz (!?) The AC interface is somewhat broken - can't get at the "..." settings page in the upper right corner, it's apparently covered by the disc icon, even on the physical device screen.

The only way I found to get to the settings on AC is to use the EverSolo control app on my iphone in portrait mode. o_O Then the "..." is visible. Make sure "lossless" is turned on in the audio quality section.

But I think you may be capped at 48Khz with Apple Classical. The generic disc page when playing the above shows 48 Khz but I have no info about bit size.

I will stay at my sideloaded AM/AC until someone verifies a newer version works on the A6. Things just seem to get worse.

Sorry I'm not more help. What version(s) are you using?

    Apple Music 5.1.2
    Apple Classical 3.0.3 (210) *
    DMP-A6 firmware 1.5.62

    * There is no standalone version of Apple Classical on the sideload app I'm using (Aurora Store)

You have found a fatal flaw. Apple Classical Music does not play above 48kHz. Neither does the side-loaded plain Apple Music App. The only way to get HiRez up to 192 kHz is to use the Apple Music app that is preloaded by Eversolo. But has been mentioned often here, even that app sometimes does not play full HiRez on every track in an album labeled above 48. For complete HiRez I use Qobuz. It is disappointing because I also love show-tunes, movie music which are absent on Qobuz mostly.

Maybe that depends upon how much hires content Apple Music (classical) actually has.
HiRes in this context may mean: as long as we have it, here it is, otherwise we give you the best we can.
Otherwise it must be considered a scam (if not even the native Apple application - developed by Apple itself - fulfills its claims).
Otherwise Apple is deliberately applying some restrictions when their Apple Music (classical) services are being used by Apple devices, or not...

In a software context, this is easy to implement.

  5. Thanks, but I think you're putting it backwards. The side-loaded Apple Music app *does* play at up to 24bit/192Khz. I mentioned such a track in my post#2 above. I have verified this by looking at network traffic. Network bandwidth scales by bitsize * samplerate as it should.

The AM that is provided by EverSolo is limited (to 48Khz IIRC).

Not all tracks on an album necessarily play at the "advertised" album quality. But at least one should. I don't know why this is. Maybe a release engineering/production decision. Maybe a recording engineer or producer can comment.

Personally I don't care much about sampling rates above 48Khz, because I trust math. The Nyquist limit applies - Redbook 16/44.1Khz is very good already. But 24bits is very nice, particularly for wide dynamic range classical recordings.

This website is useful for finding"Hi-resolution" releases in Apple Music.

Then IMHO it could be the case of Apple vs 3-rd party AM app. Apple servers may prioritize proprietary Apple software, and limit bandwidth for 3-rd parties... I know, it sucks.

I also found the even when AM says the album is HR, not all songs are. It is strange. It happens in their native iPhone app too.

I don’t think I have it backwards but maybe I using the wrong terms. When I set up my Eversolo, there is an AM that has a download button on it that when you press it downloads AM. THAT is the one that is full res -but does drop some tracks. That AM needs to be configured properly in Settings in the upper left hand corner to play correctly high res. When I go to a website like APKPure and download AM it never plays above 48 kHz. AC dowloaded like the “real” preloaded AM, fixes playback at 48, not matter how you put the settings. That has been the way since the first day I had my unit.

Well, it’s the other way around for me (and others). The AM that comes with the Eversolo limits at 24/48, the sideloaded one doesn’t.

  12. Well it's been a while since I installed it, and perhaps things have changed. It would be nice to not have to use the side loaded AM! Anyone willing to do a factory reset and try it? I'm not feeling adventurous.

Edit: Thought of a way to test short of that. Checked "Apple Music" in "Streaming". Launched that version and it is limited to 24/48K. The same stream played on "my apps" AM is 24/96K. I unchecked the bundled streaming version and restarted, back to good. I have screenshots but they're too large for the margin of this note.

When I installed AM, the "download" button got the version still limited to 48 Khz. You do get lossless if you click the setup option.

I had to "side load" the apple music application using the "Aurora Store" google play app & an anonymous login.

Well long live differences! I cannot sideload AM any longer because I am an iOS person and the new format of XAPK bewilders me. So I will stay with my Eversolo downloaded AM and get resolutions up to 24/192 without any trouble except when Apple decides to not do that every once in a while on 2 discs that I listen too. I also have qobuz which is more stable of course but doesn’t have American poplular music or show tunes so I have to have AM. AMClassic doesn’t work well on Eversolo but it is a great reference. There is always AMClassics and regular AM on iOS devices for Dolby Atmos versions when that seems important.

  14. There's a lot to be said for "if it's not broke, don't fix it". Enjoy the music!

Sideload e.g. the Aurora Store app and install AM from there; that way you can always update to the newest version without having to worry about file formats.

And I think you still have it backwards (or I misunderstand you). The Eversolo AM is limited to 24/48, only a sideloaded AM goes to 24/192.

Not to beat a dead horse but here is a screenshot of AM provided by Eversolo and downloaded to my machine. It is clearly playing at 192kHz.
I wish others would test this out because it just cannot be me that is getting this result.
