Hi i have had a look through and cant see if this has been raised but does anyone know if the issue below is a “Roon, Certification and or hardware” Issue? I have finished setting up the A6 and it is rather brilliant at what it does so far. It replaces a Mac mini simply as i could not remotely control the Mac for Apple Music lossless. Anyway local Roon library is now on the NVMe drive i installed in the A6. The A6 is connected to the External DAC and playing any DSD file from the Eversolo app to the External DAC shows DSD64 or whatever it is. So all working great. Now if i play the same local file from inside ROON and send that to my DAC it shows a green light in Roon instead of the lovely purple light. The cause of the green light is from the Source ( SSD) the file is converted from DSD to PCM 352.8. That file is sent to Roons advance Audio Transport via the A6 in tact so purple light and then out through USB to the DAC. Which indeed shows 352 Instead of DSD64. I also have a Naim unity Atom and it is of note that inside the ROON settings for the Naim it shows an option to change the DSD Max sampling rate whilst the settings for the A6 in Roon do not. Anyone found out if this is a hardware limitation of the A6 ( which makes no sense as it can send the DSD file to the DAC if played through the Eversolo App but maybe) , A known issue to be fixed in later firmware or anything? Both devices ( whilst in different price ranges0 are Roon certified so i did think the Roon part would be consistent thanks in advance. I did have some images but i cant post them as i am new so hope i explained it ok
Show your signal path from Roon. You've to set the volume to fixed, that DSD will not converted to PCM. Also take care about the DoP/native setting in the eversolo. And yes: For the DMP-A6, you don't have any settings for DSD in Roon. But it works for me (primarily through HDMI) as expected.
Hi Burki, Yes i have the volume set to fixed as the USB out feeds my integrated amp. I have tried both Native DSD and DoP and get the same result. The Roon signal path is attached Also the setting menu for both the A6 and the Naim inside of Roon
Interestingly Eversolo support gave me a rather vague response stating it should work and sent me the setting page from what i assume is their A6 in Roon. this indeed showed a DSD out setting just like the Naim in my set up. They did not confirm if that was HDMI or USB out
It's the same for Ethernet/USB (input from PC) -> both use the XMOS (this is Roon ready settings - Ethernet)
for A6 to be able to receive native DSD mch stream from ROON directly without pcm conversion, the target DAC or AV amplifier connected via HDMI needs to support such native mch DSD input. I have Yamaha RX-A3080 which is capable of receiving native DSD 5.1 mch @ 2.8Mhz so such signal comes straight in without conversion.
Hi KC sorry i do not really follow your post. My settings inside of Roon do not show the DSD option for some reason. As the picture from support and your picture shows a DSD option I can only assume i have a setting wrong on my set up?
They are the A6 capabilities I don't remember changing anything & I don't use DSD. My sources are either my PC via usb3 or Roon via Ethernet => rca+xlr analog output. Both show the same thing (on Roon). If you use the A6 via Airplay in Roon, you get this only:
Yes that would make sense as you are using the A6 to do the DAC and outputting via rca xlr. The A6 certainly can use DSD files so it would be fine whilst outputting to its analogue stages. for me I have roon server running on a PC the A6 houses all music files on an SSD and is connected to the network via Ethernet. The signal is then outputted via USB to my external DAC ( which can decode DSD). I am hoping to find someone with the same sort of set up that has the DSD option whilst using the A6 USB out to a DAC inside of ROON. Thanks again for the info.
UPDATE: I was dealing with Eki and the support team with this issue. Send them screen shots of all sorts of data they asked for. I was told they would fix this in the next update. To be honest did not expect anything to happen. Today Eki mailed me to say it should be good now with the latest beta update. He was correct. Now have a lovely purple signal path all the way. Amazing service from this team. So impressed. Thanks
