I have some uhd movies that wouldn’t play back in ISO format on the uhd8000:

Fury (war) - menu comes up, but no playback
Civil War - stock on loading and no playback
The Batman - stock on loading and no playback.

Does anyone have these movies ripped in iso format? Are you experiencing similar issues. The interesting thing is these files played fine on the uhd3000.

I have Civil War - it's not an ISO but in BDMV format. Works fine.

since we all come from different countries, it would be nice to add the country of release of those problematic movies because some of them are from different editors depending the country, and as a result may have a different menu coding.

Fury probably is a Sony disc Anywhere.
    The batman, a Warner disc.

as for civil war , i think is was releases via multiple éditors across the world.

I use to rip to UHD.iso using AnyDVD and then when they evaporated, have been using DVDFab.

I have two different UHD drives that I use: one 6 year old, UHD friendly BR drive and a newer Verbatim UHD (43888) with f/w supported for ripping.

I’m finding sometimes that using the BR drive to rip generates your issue but the Verbatim drive is not perfect but more reliable. I have one brand new UHD disc that I just can’t rip to a playable file, with any permutation or combination of DVDFab or makemkv, yet the disc plays fine in my Oppo 203.

Do you have an Oppo or other disc player which supports UHD.iso playback and you can check the file as a first step? Also sounds obvious and failing that, have you wiped the problem discs with a microfiber cloth and retried ripping them? I had a disc which was supposed new that looked like it’d been on a camping holiday when I got out my LED magnifying glass…

I ended up re-ripping Fury, the Batman, and civil war with my old lg Blu-ray drive after updating to the latest dvdfab firmware. I don’t know which combination helped but civil war and Batman now work fine. It takes a wile for the Batman to load however. Fury still wouldn’t play even after cleaning and reripping.

I tried fury on my old uhd3000 and it worked. I’m guessing something to do with the new chipset.

You might try MakeMKV with the firmware patch for your LG rom drive. This burns blu-ray images just fine. I use IMGBURN to make an .iso.

Ok. I though MakeMKV only did mkv files? I will try it...

It creates a bluray folder backup, then you open that with IMGBURN and create .iso from the bluray folder

Yes the new chip has additional BD menu problems for sure. Even playing without menu may be impossible. All my collection is almost in BD ISO.

Seen this also with the new Dune models.

Dont get rid of previous generation players yet. ;)

Unfortunately, I got rid of my uhd3000 to someone in Canada who really wanted it. My regret was 90% but went down to 10% after the recent update. Lol

Yeah, I stopped using DVDFAB for discs long time ago.
I have become a fan of "Streamfab" lately, allowing me to backup decade of Apple TV purchases for use on the zidoo.

(Disclosure: DVDFab are actually a long-time client of mine on the marketing side of the street.)
