You’re good with HDDs up to 16 TB. Beyond this capacity, you could have some issues.

I think so. All my hdds are from Western Digital, the red ones (the Red Pro of 16TB for example). I am really happy with them.

Note that you may find any 7200rpm NAS drive to be rather noisy. They are not designed for quiet media players.......
I found my 8Tb HGST 7200rpm drive to be not quiet enough for my tastes and swapped out with an almost silent 2.5" laptop drive, in my Z1000 Pro.

None of my external drives in cases can be heard (but an 8Tb WD Purple 7200rpm has really loud spinning, when being accessed).

i have been using seagate 4 tb external drives . there is no noise issue at all .i have got 14 tb and 16 tb seagate ironwolf pro drives . once i open any of them .they wont take them back . i just want to confirm once more which one to keep .Ternearoo told me 16 tb is fine i hope it does not give trouble when it;s 90 percent full. any suggestion on the noise issue . should i use any other nas ...pls let me know thanks guys ...

I tried a 16tb ironwolf pro once, and I found it noiser than my WDs so I sent it back to Amazon. I think that the Reds are really discreet in use, except If you are not lucky and get a lemon. I use 10 WD Red HDDs at home (14Tb and above) and I sent back two of them because the noise level was not on par with the ones that I already have. The replacements were perfect.

And no, you won’t have any issue if you don’t go over 16TB. Many users use that capacity, just because of the 4K videos, remux and stuffs like that.

For the future, a NAS, a DAS or a dock with few hdds inside would be a good option yes. Especially if you have 4k isos in your collection. All the movies in my collection are mkv remux in HD or 4K and you fill up the HDDs very quickly with that kind of files.

I am not a specialist about NAS but I think that everything will have to be wired.

Wireless will work but it all depends on the quality of the connection and the source being used. 4K/DV with Atmos and external subtitles is the most critical.

A HDD formatted SATA connected to a W10/W11 PC with a single partition GPT/NTFS will always work. Never seen a single exception.
No other partitions or free space of any type allowed.

The why? Android has just a simplified NTFS implementation not dealing with multiple variables. It also never verifies the 2 FAT areas to remain identical it merely writes both.

Last time that I had this with Disk Management on Windows (for all new big HDDs, you must create and format a hard disk partition first), the HDD was deffective.

Just ask a replacement if it doesn't work on the other computer.
