The thing is this box is in development, I've had one for a while and we've improved immensely over the original firmware. This is a big departure for Zidoo so they're learning as much as we are - but hellfire they're keen to get this right, so ignore all the nay sayers and moaners and enjoy the ride! You'll like it
That’s Zidoo, they’re addiction to perfection is unlike any other we saw from China. Also not many listens to feedback as much as them, because there’s certain ego in those big names refusing to accept any flaws in their products. I already know I will not like it, but I will love it. I mean, we all own a Zidoo’s media players (I also see many newcomers, because of the DMP-A6 no doubt) and amazed by it, mine is still very active and going strong as ever, but seeing all this glowing reviews camparing to streamers 5 times it’s price gave me goosebumps. One user at the PS Audio forum ran a DAC comparison with the $39,000 Gryphon Ethos Gryphon Ethos and he said “They were not the same, but the DMP-A6 was very good.”
We have bought a brand new Samsung SSD, and it can be formated and used. Maybe you can format it with PC first, then insert to DMP-A6.
Hi, As i am new to this, just buy my DMP A6 Master Edition, and want to put an internal disk. Can somebody recommend me, (or put me a link) to buy a 4TB disk (to use it with new upcoming firmware) to put in my DMP, as i don't know wich one to buy? Thanks in advance for helping me.
@neoitata There is no HDD slot just a SSD slot. I ordered this one: Crucial P3 4TB M.2 PCIe Gen3 NVMe Internal SSD Was not my original intention but hit the USB cable by accident making a BU of my 5 TByte 2.5 inch HDD on my PC. Unfortunately it was spinning during its fall and was damaged. Now ending up spending double for a SSD replacement € 209 which is not that bad (but more than in the UK). Free shipping local. Will add the experience after mounting it (expected delivery 08-06 in the evening).
What about the internal ssd ones with heat sinks do it go inside the slot of the A6 streamer ? Have enybody installed one
Hey, just kidding because Nice Monkey's finger heat test (posted above) I think that 5mm ssd cooler will fit nicely.
I'm having the same experience as others. Installed a Samsung 1TB SSD 980 asked to format, done very quickly, doesn't show up... Don't really have a way to otherwise format it. Firmware V1.1.60 seems to have fixed a couple of other issues, so maybe addressed in the next update...
There are some cheap external nvme to usb adapters. Maybe you can try format ssd in PC. Also samsung have 6+5 pins nvme disks, so maybe they are not compatible with A6.
I installed a brand new Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2 TB, and it didn't show up in the A6. Nothing! I had to take it out again, install it in my PC and format it there, then re-install it in the A6. Success! Using firmware 1.1.60.
This is not as it should be: The streamer should see the drive and offer to format it being installed. Apparently it works with some SSD's including those from Samsung. It is just a workaround but not easy for everybody. My PC has a M2 slot too but that is my boot drive.
