It is 12 bit dithering, please don’t complicate things.

People with C8 have reported it too.
I haven’t been able to test this box on my C7 since UK lockdown as it is at a different address to my C9.

    Hi
Just got this unit. Cannot get DV to work in any format. Tried playing UHD DV movie from folder or creating UHD to MKV with DV using DVDFab. I can only get HDR. I have an LG OLED 65EP. Whenever I try to switch to VS10, the colours change and then when I try to play a file it kicks me out changes the resolution to 1080P60HZ and the audio keeps playing. At this point, did I get this player for nothing? I like my Z9S and played everything fine except DV. That's the reason I purchased this player. Or am I missing some setting I should change.
    Thanks

Hi, you are missing quite a lot, you need to use Makemkv with Mel titles, or read this thread for Fel titles https://www.makemkv.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=18602&p=96890#p96890
Please keep this thread for the black screen re-synch bug.

I’ve been able to submit a debug log for this problem to Mark Swift, I think looking at it the Devs will be able to identify the problem quickly.
They are currently on Vacation so it may be next week before they look at it.

Just to go back to this, I've been decoding some Dolby VSDBs from LG EDIDs.

I've looked at LG E6, C7 and C9 and none of the EDIDs advertise 12-bit 422 support which is particularly odd for the C9 since "low latency 422 12-bit" is advertised in <DV Interface>

    LG C9

    BLUE Primary: 0.133, 0.047

Neither the C7 or E6 advertise LLDV or 12-bit 422 support.

Not sure if this has a bearing, but I thought it was interesting and kind of strange.

That is strange, especially as I pointed out if I set my Oppo Clone to Player LED DV processing it clearly shows as outputting 12bit DV???

In addition to this whilst looking in the developer options on my shield there is an option ‘Reset HDMI connection on error’ which is turned off by default,
This what I think Zidoo needs.

It's possible the Oppo is outputting at 12-bit 444 since that's legal, although unusual for DV.

Interesting - try turning that on and see if you get similar results to the Zidoo...

    Hmmm... Similar situation...

The only way I've found to decode the Dolby block is to connect two Vertexes back to back, load the EDID into one and read the DV info from the other:

    upload_2020-10-9_18-36-16.png

Because of Dolby IPR I'm not aware of any software that can do it.

For general EDID editing I use Deltacast E-EDID Editor and for an EDID summary I use Gefen Syner-G.

So loading all these EDIDs with YUV422 12-bit unsupported, the Zidoo will still output 4K23 YUV422 12-bit so I think this may be a red herring.

I thought maybe that 12-bit flag only refers to Standard DV and not LLDV, but the Sony A1 is LLDV only and the 12-bit flag is high on its EDID.

Hopefully we'll get some more info next week when the devs look at your debug log.

Tried with this on and off on the Shield - no difference.
During playback of The Matrix Dolby Vision I go to the device settings on Shield and it shows current output 3840x2160 yuv 12bit 4:2:2 23.976hz BT2020 via Plex.
Shame the Shield is pushing Red on DV because with the recent introduction of HDR to SDR tone mapping it has almost got the market covered.

OK, We're going to buy a LG C9, and take a look what happens.
Anybody can try to disable the HDCP? (Quick Settings -- Display --HDCP -- OFF)

Hi, buying a LG makes sense.
Already tried turning HDCP off and setting it 1.4, still the same.
    Thank you.
