I always set the gui resolution/framerate to the same as the majority of content to minimise resyncs, but if you want to set <auto> then that will work just as well, it will just set resolution/framerate according to the EDID (probably 4K60) and resync when content plays.

 

To be fair, the only thing you're likely to want to change is the HDR mode, but for most users <auto> is appropriate.

The order of setting HDR then HDMI mode may become unimportant as hopefully the issue of resolution changing when HDR mode changes will be fixed.

Thank you most helpful. Will these settings be appropriate for the Z1000 Pro as well? I received my unit yesterday and just waiting for a new 10tb Internal HDD before I get started with it.

Also is there an "Emergency ROM Image" for this model too, just in case? If so, where will I find it please?

Can I ask some advice on the following:

Although I‘ve started buying some 4K discs & I have a reasonable collection of BluRay discs (which was my preferred medium), I have a few hundred DVDs and still get these for the kids Disney films etc.
(They’re cheaper and the family don’t care about Sound or Picture quality like I do).

My issue is that playing these rips back defaults to 2160p resolution and, more importantly, “FIT” aspect ration, which results in them playing ‘squashed’?
I have to manually change the aspect ratio to 16:9 for every movie. Not only a pain but something the wife & kids won’t sort nor do I want them messing about with settings .

Any ideas? I rip them in direct folder layout (Audio_TS & Video_TS) as HT3 sees these correctly as DVDs whereas in .iso format it thinks they are a Blu-ray etc.

Hadn't checked any SD content, but yes, it seems SD content doesn't honour automatic framerate/resolution settings or DAR in anamorphic files.

 

well, i watched my first uhd movie last night, and had a few of the pauses, stutters, short, like a second or 2, and only a few in 1:45 film
i checked my ip6, and it is disabled on my asus rt86u router.

dolby vision worked and played a test ts file,
few quirks, was in smb , went on a mkv, poster, then the trailer showed, good, went in the poster to play the mkv, and the video dumped me back to the home screen but the audio and counter were playing as it should. another i had played a ts DV test file, after the file, any other video showed a greyish background, never started then dumped me back to the home. Reboots fixed the issue both times. i added the power to the bottom of the home, to make it easier. connection is gig wired. didn't try wifi.

with the settings supplied, sound and video was very good, very pleased.

 

Do you think that’s something likely to come in a later fix (ie. have previous Zidoo boxes handled these OK)? If so, I’ll just be patient as it’s early days.

As I had a Himedia Q5 before, using Kodi, I’ve no reference to what Zidoo are good/bad at.

Otherwise, I’m loving the box so far.

Confirmed.
I use "Smart Youtube TV" instead. Works fine and is made for Smart TV so working well with just a remote control.

I also had the same problem.
The app was crashing when I was try to sign in.
I change to version _G, I make the proper activation sign in my google account and now YouTube is working like a charm!

 

I installed last firmware but ı cant still sign in. I see my gmail account and ı select it but cant sign
