probably not. they may have almost the same name . but its all about the SOC. x9 uses a A9 MSTAR MSO9180D1R, X9S uses a RTD1295 processor , 2 different things. zidoo is making his work harder by using different soc's they may still be able to port some functions to other devices. probably those that are android based. like the new launcher
I don´t see a problem on having a back compatibility on the apps, once they are using the same name. If it is a completly different product, just call it X10
they probably reused the name because its designed to do almost the same things. i'm talking about the dual HDMI for HDMI recoding here. but the soc used are different.
