Could you have the wrong version of the APK? Don't know if these boxes need the 64bit V8 or 32bit V7 builds.
But will it remember different settings for each display? for example my TV and protector both support HDR but the projector I want to output...
If I use one these devices with 2 different displays, that present different EDIDs i.e a TV and protector will it persist 2 different settings...
I would think that would be plenty fast enough. I use a 4 bay Synology unit and it works fine.

Uhd Blu-ray's have a max bit rate of 144 Mbit/s, 1Gbit is 1000Mbit/s. So there is plenty of bandwidth, crappy WiFi might be an issue but any wired...
If your display is an OLED this could be the pixel shifting causing a slight overscan as the image moves around. I'd just leave it at 100% scaling...
