Thanks a lot dear @HaoSs, your help is precious. But yes I've only one IP and the downloads work fine with other clients. So, I continue my investigations. Thanks and best,
    Inji.

make a print screen with transmission settings under openWRT. Or post the config file if you are familiar with linux and how to get it using ssh. I may be able to detect a problem.

HI, HaoSs. My transmission stops working again due to failure of SMB.
My Samba is down for the 2nd time. The problem is failure to find the config file, telling that no config file is found and no shared drive though a HDD is plugged in a USB port which can be recognized by the file explorer. As a consequence, transmission stops working due to failing to pick up the config file moved to the external HDD.
At first I thought it might be an accidental failure. So I restored the firmware to factory default, which did not solve the trouble. Then I flashed the box and Samba came back. Yesterday it was down again. So it might not be an accidental failure or could be a bug.
Can you please instruct how to solve it? I can't be suffering from such trouble of always flashing the box to the factory default and then failing again after a couple of days use.

If you disable and enable transmission again. it should detect the config file and start properly. also check in mount tab if the HDD has the same path
We are talking about 2 posible bugs here
    1) hdd sometimes changes mount path, even if its in the same USB port ( usualy happens when you add another USB drive )
    2) config sometimes does not load ( this was somewhat fixed by me , adding a 30 sec delay on transmission start script, you can find the how to on the forum )

    Thanks for your reply.
    1. The mounting point does show the presence of external HDD path /mnt/sda2, but nothing in SMB, meaning SMB fails to pick up external HDD as the shared directories. So transmission can't read config file moved to the external HDD. Use Winscp to open the HDD. We can see two folders only in the external HDD, where there are far more than 2 folders;
    2. 30 sec delay does solve the problem of the transmission failing to pick up the config file at the start, but it has to suceessfully find the external HDD and read config file there. Now it seems it doesn't due to absence of the shared directories in Samba.
    3. Your advice doesn't work. Samba doesn't pick up the shared directories nor does the transmission work even after disable and enable. What is worse is that all settings in transmission are gone.
    4. What I am understanding is that if we can let Samba pick up the external HDD as shared directories the transmission will work. And I don't know how. Shall I manually add the shared directories?

yah. try to mannualy add it . i did not encounter this error. samba not having the mount point from the start.

i'm using samba and transmission for 3 weeks now. with zero problems.

Did not work. I had to flash my box again to get restored to factory defualt. After setting I made a backup of OpenWrt configuration to recover when it is down again. But who knows if the backup works or not. So many bugs are really troubling me.

It seems a problem of SMB that collapses. The configuration is gone, nothing left on the SMB page. Even the enable/disable button is nowhere to be found.

so it died again ? can you login with putty and see if the config file is also gone ? should be under etc/config/samba

some samba info : https://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/cifs.server . Not sure if the process can be started using command line ( /etc/init.d/samba restart ), this openwrt is different from standard one.

Not yet died. I have backed up Samba config file in /etc/samba/smb.conf. I will see if the config file is gone causing collapsis of Samba when it dies again. When it died last time the Samba page showed "No data and value".

4 is how you setup FTP and how you connect. 2 is the fix ( the 30 sec delay on startup is the actual fix )

So if I understand correctly, I have to use these two FIX

One question is what in the next FW 1.2.8 (which is in BETA currently) all these FIX will be included?

  18. HaoSs

    HaoSs Well-Known Member

not really. number 4 is more like a setup guide. it does not fix anything. its a video of me setting up SAMBA and connecting to it. and seting up FTP and connecting to it ( in lan and over internet )

depends on you how you do the fix. using putty to connect to the box and edit the file in command line, or using FTP to connect and edit the file using a file editor ( notepad )

not sure if the fix will be included. i did talk with zidoo guys. its easy to do. so we may see it

The ideal would be to put these FIX (1 to 7) in the next FW 1.2.8 FINAL.

I will see if this FIX is in the next FW, I manage to realize my transfers from iMac to the X9S in FTP via Filezilla software but the transfer does not exceed 2.4Mo / s
I was told on this forum that it was necessary to make FIX 2 and/or FIX 4

that is for transmission config load. has nothing to do with the speed. what connection are you using ? wire ? WIFI ? ( i get 30 MB/s over 5ghz wifi )
