Curious to see what the next Zidoo steps will be:
    - Again another Beta FW 2.3.33 for all RTD1296 models and equivalent for RTD1295 models
    - A final release made available via real OTA pushed to all customers with auto update on.

What is happening with Zidoo X and other RTD 1619 based models? Dune is already eating its Birthday cake!

well, I see it that way too.
Z9s troubleshooting without end, zidoo has to be careful not to lose the connection ........

dune hd pro 4k 2, settings are shown
    (Russian language)

netflix & co should also run in a higher resolution.

    @franz weber
The request to improve Netflix should be mailed to Netflix directly as they don't want this to be enabled by their policy.

Framerate switching problem with this release:
    My settings : HDMI mode 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz
Frame rate: automatic frame rate switching only, delay 1 or 3 sec
Monitor: Sony 75XD9405 via AV Receiver Marantz NR 1506
Starting a movie the screen goes dark and after 1..2 sec the audio starts and after another .5...1 sec the Monitor indicates video parameter switching and then the the picture appears. So I loose always the first couple of seconds video.
No change since the original firmware 2.2.96

The update was done to avoid flickering of the screen. As the term says AFR (adaptive frame rate) the video must be playing to dynamically find the correct rate from the video stream. So missing a few Video seconds at the start of playback is a mere consequence. ;)

The video does not have to be playing! You can get the info from the header info! So a procedure could be
    1. read header info of video file
    2. switch frame rate
3 start the movie after a choosable delay (because of different monitor switching time)

Header Info is not reliable/correct enough to be used.

Whole stories written about that. Could work for just ISO's but forget it with what is used by most being MKV and AVI files.

I have only mkv files and never encountered an incorrect header. I think you just try to avoid improvements. All my old mediaplayers had no such problem.

If you run the gui at 3840 x 2160 @23Hz you won't get frame rate switching for the vast majority of content.

That is a good suggestion! Thank you! It does not solve the principle problem though!

Addition: I tried your suggestion. It helped switching but resulted in a bad AR display.
Then I tried "auto" which yielded Auto (3840 x 2160 @60Hz)! The AR was correct and switching times where much faster. It looks like this function is not a clean solution.

Tried that myself by using 1080P23 as the fixed value but my TV thinks 1080P60 is a better value when using EDID overruling me. Smart-TV being too smart.

There will always some disturbance when switching resolution and framerate and it all depends on how the sink (display or receiver) handles it - the source doesn't care, it just switches - hence the provision of a delay.

For example, above you say that on switching you get audio first followed by picture, but in my test setup (Z9S > Denon7200 > Sammy TV) with the same firmware, I get picture first followed by audio a second or so later, and it's the sink doing that, not the source.

With my theatre, having a JVC projector, I have to wait approx 15 seconds for sync which is crazy - again, nothing to do with the player.

Also, it's not just resolution and frame rate that causes this - switching in and out of HDR does the same.

Because I use the Zidoo in the theatre almost exclusively for 4K HDR, I have it set to force HDR with the gui at 4K23 - that way I rarely see any resyncs, so the key to minimising it is to set the gui to the mode you use the most - so if it's HD, set the gui to 2K23 (which will also have the advantage of a sharper image since the gui is native 2K) etc.

That's why I always set these things discretely rather than relying on Auto all the time.

Turning off EDID is not a good alternative so OK I miss a few seconds at the start with AFR. Who really cares?

My saying is "I love AUTO options and even more so when they can be disabled too".

    Me, with a 15 second resync!! :D

I don't turn EDID off, I just set the resolution I want rather than letting the EDID choose.

I try to read posts on a regular basis but due to the fact that I am not a specialist in these topics, I wanted to ask what settings to choose in the Z9S to be able to watch lossless 4K movies (with HDR) and Dolby Atmos sound. I mean full versions of movies from BD menu. I apologize in advance for the question. If you are willing to naswer could you please support it with some screens.
    Thank you.

    Quite simple:

    In "Quick Settings"

Playback/Automatic frame rate/Frame rate mode: Switch frame rate and resolution

    Display/HDMI Mode: 3840x2160p 23Hz
    Display/HDR: Auto
    Display/Advanced settings/Deep Color Mode: 10-bit
    Display/Advanced settings/Color Space Mode: YCbCr 444
    Display/Advanced settings/HDMI Range Mode: 16-235

    Audio/HDMI Audio: RAW
    Audio/Downmix HD Audio output: OFF

To be honest if you just set all the above to Auto it should be fine, but I prefer to set discretely.

This needs to set manually. Auto puts the range to 0 to 256 unless it was fixed in recent firmware.

Although, as I say, I use discrete settings (ie 16-235), Auto works fine for me - I seem to remember this being an issue with one private beta in the dim and distant past but not recently...

But belt and braces, leave on 16-235.
