Looking good! My go to problem disk is Thor Ragnarok UHD - playing from menu. Last few firmwares it would stick at M2TS joins. Tested first two and sailed right by!! Nice. My other go to disk is Aliens BD with two versions of the film handled by branching. However I still can't open this disk to it's menu on the Z9S - goes as far as studio logo and then black screen. edit: played Aliens BD without menu and defaults to extended edition. Tested a couple of M2TS joins and saw no issues.
Play them without menu, that will play the longest version. Not what you want but gives a good indication.
I though we only had issues when starting the player with the menu. Using direct play button you can still choose the title (playlist) from the pup up menu up at the top. The same will apply choosing 3D or 2D verison.
That's a new one. Now we are being pushed! More results to follow soon. It is not that easy as a whole movie must be watched. @3DBuff Thanks for pointing me to the Title choice playing without BD Menu. Overlooked that possibility completely.
I discovered it myself not too long ago. Very handy. I was struggling trying to get the 3D version to play on the disk with 2D + 3D.
No need. Get hold of the free software called BDInfo - https://www.videohelp.com/software/BDInfo This will read and provide info on where the M2TS files start - for example below is an extract from Thor Ragnarok. At the end of the extract you can see the time codes for the joins. So it's easy to move forward to about 30 seconds from each and see how it goes. Further test on Star Wars - A New Hope UHD. Went past three M2TS joins with zero issues. By Jove I think they've done it!!!
We used different ways to solve this issue, its usability is much better. Better compatibility than competitors. it's time for "0548" to shut up . Don't forget that zidoo is the only one that supports forced subtitles both on MKVs and bluray. Appropriate framerate and metadata
I am very positive too about this FW. The only problem I have seen was with "The Frighteners". Not a big glitch but reproducible. It is at a scene switch to a very fast scene within the marked file. Updated my earlier related replies accordingly. Conclusion thus far as a result "it seems to work as intended". That is in fact great news and my congratulations to Zidoo for finally getting it fixed. I just wonder if Realtek now solved it too with the new SOC/SDK for RTD1619 without needing this patch? To put it in perspective Media Players using another brand SOC/SDK never had this problem.
Tested few movies and so far so good. No issues on my movie samples with branching. Slightly different issue with BD Menu. Goods of Egypt 3D and probably UHD is problematic for Z9S. BD menu gets stuck and there is no way to select correct title of 175 listed in direct player. Title list needs to read and list all the titles (playlists). Maybe that's why menu gets stuck. On the other hand my old trusted Zidoo X9S with v2.1.28 has no issues at all with the same file. BD Menu plays fine and shows title 305 of 425 from what I remember. BD menu plays correct and direct player also works if I select title 305. Anyway to get it fixed in line with the old proven X9S with v2.1.28? Don't want to drag this into Z9X
Interesting find! Specifically X9S working better with processing BD Menu's is striking. This moves up to the top of my bug list now. Just below that is a new one "Lack of a Real Manual". The need-to-know things keeps growing and even I am losing track. Specifically HT3 and probably next Music Player is full of those.
This latest update v2.3.32 is looking good. I have to acknowledge that it has been steady progress and keeps on getting better.
Good news and thank you to the zidoo team @mirror About the thousands of Zidoo X8 / X9S / X10 users who have had this problem for 4 years Will there be a new FW for them too ? have a nice day
This is a great update and bodes well for new models. Fantastic work. I only have a few gripes left. Firstly the Z9S has always struggled a little with full menu support. Mostly OK but I still have a few with issues. It would be great if the development team improved that part. Secondly HT and the way it scrapes Movies and TV shows is a bit arbitrary whether is uses TVDB or TMDB. Need to be able to designate a source as Movie or TV to sort this out But my list of issues has grown very small. Keep up the great work!
